Garage doors need to be updated and replaced when they begin to break down.

Fiberglass and Aluminum Garage Doors

Aluminum

Aluminum is certainly a cost-effective material. It is not as durable as wood or steel, and it is more easily dented that other types. It also lacks insulation and cladding like steel doors possess. However, it is very lightweight and is ideal for a warmer climate when one is building a tilt-up door. It will definitely save you money while depriving you of insulation and aesthetic value.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass is recommended most for garages that are located in warmer climates and probably near a large body of salt water. They do not insulate as well as wood or steel, and they react poorly to cold weather. They can crack or break in temperatures below freezing. They can fade and yellow in the sun, but require less maintenance.
