Your Contractor’s Work

Depending upon how big your garage is, if you have a garage door opener, and if your garage door opener uses torsion springs (which, if mishandled can cause severe injury), you should leave the work of installation to your installer. However, the following is a rough outline of what he or she will do to install your door. This outline refers to a sectional garage door, which is much more complicated to install.

  1. The first section is wedged into place at the bottom of the opening.
  2. The rollers and tracks are then assembled, but not attached to the wall.
  3. The bottom parts of the tracks and rollers are then attached to the bottom section of the door and the wall.
  4. The next section is put into place above the bottom one, repeating the same steps with the tracks and rollers. This continues until the ceiling is reached.
  5. The ceiling tracks are then attached and secured into place.
  6. Track hangers, which offer additional support to the tracks, are screwed in.
  7. The door is then tested and should roll up towards the ceiling with no problems.
